Trying to stay DE-stressed

I move to Charlotte in 38 days. That's it... a week and a month. I still don't have a job. Which as much as I wish I could just accept for now and realize once I actually live in Charlotte I'll be able to find work... I can't. I've had a job sine I was in 8th grade. I worked at the St. Denis rectory answering phones, then I worked at good old Rita's Waterice in Havertown, then I worked at Student Activites at Fordham, then I worked at Student Activities AND WFUV here, then I graduated and worked as a camp counselor for a summer, then I worked at Millennium Radio New Jersey, and then I got the job here. So you can see why not having a job lined up might cause me a teeny bit of stress.

Doesn't help that I'm PMSing. So hopefully in a week or two I'll be a little less irritable and the like :)

Just everyone keep your fingers crossed that I find a decent paying job soon after I move!

Other than the looming job issue... I'm quite excited about moving. Though the bathroom is small, the rest of the apartment is really cute and nice. Ar has done a great job of setting everything up and now that there's furniture it's definitely homey. Hopefully I'll be able to ride a little more as I'll have a riding partner (even if she could kick my ass on a bike any day of the week)... and I'll be so close to downtown Charlotte which is always nice. Because I do love cities! I'm even secretly (and I mean VERY secretly) excited about having a dog. As reluctant as I was in the begining, I did always want a puppy when I was little... and Fiona has turned into quite the good dog. I'm sure I'll still get annoyed and stressed about having a dog (because if you haven't figure it out yet -- thats just what I do), but on the whole I think it will be fun!

Bring on the SUMMER

So this post is really a day early... as it's not quite Friday yet. But I'm just preparing.

I just emailed my psuedo-boss (In my mind she's my boss, but when we just did evaluations a few weeks ago she wasn't even sitting in on mine!) to see if it would be a problem if I left at 2 tomorrow. Her response was:

If I were your boss, and we now know that I actually have no authority over you what so ever, I would say, "leave at noon".

Gotta love this job sometimes. So tomorrow I hope to get to work around 7:30 or 8 and then head out by noon. I'm sure I'll spend a good 4-5 hours sitting on the parkway in traffic but I'll still be in Avalon by dinnertime.

The forcast could be better... but oh well. Looks like it's going to T-storm Fri and Sat but then clear up for Sunday and Monday. Hopefully I'll be able to get in at least two good rides and get a teeny bit of color. Who knows?!

Either way I'm just excited to get to Avalon. Haven't been down since Labor Day.

New Music

If anyone out there is looking for some good new music -- I highly recomend Gomez's new album How We Operate

I don't own it yet -- but we've been playing a bunch of it here on the FUV... and it's good stuff.

They're opening for Dave Matthews this summer in Jersey (Tweeter Center in Camden) -- but they're cooler than Dave because they're from the UK. And that automatically ups their cool points.

Happy Suzie-Q

I got in trouble this weekend because I never blog anymore... so I'm going to try to be good this week! Sometimes I just don't have anything to say. But who are we kidding? I always have something to say!

I feel like I've had a super productive day because I got up at 7 this morning and took my car in to get my 80,000 mile (yeah -- I've only had my car for 2.5 years too) tune-up. So I hung out at Madison Honda while they fixed up Suzie-Q (my car if you couldn't figure it out). Then stopped at Starbucks on my way to work and got a latte! What a great way to start the day.

(This is totally a cop out picture as I just realized I have no pictures of my car! So this is compliements of google images.)

I realized today though that I have over 83,000 miles on my car. So let's assume that all those miles were done at 70mph (which I'm sure they werent as I spend WAAAY too much time sitting in traffic)... that means I've spent 1,185 hours plus driving my car. Because I'm really the only person who drives it. And if I'm not driving - I'm in the passenger seat. That's 57 days!!! Practically 2 full months out of the past 2.5 years have been spent in my car! Wow.

Should we talk about gas mileage? Ok -- I get around 30 mpg/highway. Which is where I'm usually driving. So 83,000 miles at 30mpg is about 2,766 gallons of gas. Let just pretend that the average price of gas for the past 2.5 years was $1.80 (which again is probably a lot lower than reality)... I've spent about $4,980 on gas. WOW.

...and I thought I didnt have anything to say...

For all you meat eaters out there...

I went to this CRAZY meat place for dinner last night -- Churrascaria Plataforma. Here's how it works. It's a fixed price. You sit down and the waiter comes over and gives everyone a little coaster. One side is green, the other is red. You can start out with the salad bar. Which has all sorts of sushi, shrimp, risiotto, another fish dish, chicken in a pink sauce, and then tons of other side salad items. So you just leave your coaster on red and head up to the salad bar. As soon as you're done with that you can switch the coaster to green. This means your ready for meat. There are just men walking around with HUGE cuts of meat on skewers and they come over and ask if youd like some, then cut a piece for you right there. They had everything... literally pick a meat and they had it. Greanted I'm not a meat eater -- I just had a piece of chicken and then went to town at the salad bar... but it was just so entertaining to watch. My dad and my brother definately got their moneys worth. They were eating like there was no tomorrow. Totally crazy.

If you live near NYC... and like meat... I'd HIGHLY recomend it! And in case you were wondering... the desserts were also out of this world!
