Thank Goodness for Food Source

I've been a big ole slacker. So I'll attempt to give a breif update...

I am jobless. The meat selling job just didn't work out for me. Long story... but I quit that job.

I've been keeping myself busy helping one of Ar's customers get his new condo in order. Somewhat of a personal organizer. It's a pretty sweet gig until I find a nice little 9-5 to pay the bills (and benefits!!).

I've been settling into Charlotte. It's a great town... the people are awesome, and it's pretty sweet getting to see Ar everyday.

I did have a bit of a scare when I came to the realization that there were no Whole Foods in Charlotte. And I've been in desperate need of my favorite dressing: Cindy's Kitchen: Fat Free Balsalmic Vinigrette. So I called around to a few 'organic' food stores and none of them had even heard of it. I was totally bummed. But then Ar's boss mentioned Food Source, so I looked them up, gave them a call and they carry it! So of course I made a trip there this afternoon. Not only did they have that, but they also had Stacey's Pita chips (a must), Puffins for a reasonable price (they're like 5 bucks at Harris Teeter and its a small box), Ak-mak, and good veggie burgers! So I was in my glory... and was just super happy to have found all the things I've been looking for at the grocery store.

So no need to worry, I'm doing just fine down here in NC. Now if I could just find a job...

So maybe I got a little worked up and cried

Ar and I just got back from Bed Bath and Beyond (thanks to the folks at FUV who gave me a gift certificate there on my last day) and I was quickly putting away the stuff we got for the kitchen (cabinet shelves, trash can, dish towels) when a COCKROACH comes running out from under the sink. Yes -- I screamed for Ar (who may have been taking a shit at that particular moment). But I panicked.

Fiona sort of tried to catch it, but she was also sort of afraid of it. She'd run up to it, and then run away... a lot of help that did me! So Ar finally got to the kitchen and the cockroach had ran back behind the fridge where it came from... still alive. I was upset, but not too bad. I continued putting away my stuff... opened the bottom drawer to put the towels away and what did I see? A DEAD COCKROACH!!!! I didnt scream this time, I totally whined. Now I was worked up. Ar came in and disposed of the 'body' and had a little chuckle at how upset I was (which is ok because I'm sure I was overreacting). I then got all upset and cried. Because up north we dont have cockroaches. At least no where that I ever lived. Apparently they aren't all that abnormal here... but that doesnt mean I have to like it.

Quick and Painless

Got dinner in the oven/on the stove -- so I have to be brief. But I'm here!!! I have a job -- (the Horizon Food one that I posted about a while ago). Should be interesting as i've never done any sort of sales before -- but it has potential. And if it sucks -- I quit and find something new!

............ Ok it's an hour or so later. Dinner is no longer in the over, but eaten, leftovers put away, and dishes done. And now I'm running out the door to pick up Ar from work and head to Old Navy and Bed Bath and Beyond before they close.

I actually start working tomorrow, so who knows if I'll have time to post but I'll try!

Last "Official" Day

It's my last official day here at FUV. Granted I'll be working Sat, Sun and Monday -- but that's to train my replacement. So it's pretty much his gig from then on. And I'll just be overseeing things for a few days.... and then packing up and heading south.

Tonight we have a big event -- the 'FUV Boat. It's an FUV dance party on a boat cruise around Manhattan. It should be fun as the whole staff is going and it's a sold out event (and as its a benefit that means $$ for the station). There are glow necklaces, grass skirts, and even umbrella toothpicks for the drinks all ready.

I'm heading out in a few minutes to go help set up the boat. I probably won't be posting for a while until I get settled in Charlotte. But I'm sure I'll have plenty of stories once I get down there!

And I swear one of these days I'll upload all of the pictures from my vacation (all 146 of them).

All over the place

That's exactly where I've been. Last week was a short week as I was in Charlotte on Monday. Then I was in Philly over the weekend for the diaconate. I thought this week would slow down at least a tad... but not so much. Tomorrow I might have to go to Philly in the morning to interview someone for my job, and since I was heading there tomorrow after work anyway, I'll just stay after the interview. Which will actually work out quite nicely.

But that means I'll be out of the office tomorrow and Friday. And I have to leave early today as I'm working a concert in the city. So I've been trying to get everything situated to be out for two days... insanity! But again, it will work out nicely if I can get to Philly tomomorrow morning, and not have to drive home in rush hour traffic!

Tomorrow night I'm hoping to get my nails done, and head to D and Pat's new house to help with painting and the like. Friday morning Maureen and I are off to VA for Kate and Bob's wedding! It's going to be a crazy but fun weekend. Then I have a full week of work and I'm off to Jumby Bay for vacation!!

And in 24 days... I'll be livin in the south!

Sadness

Silly mountain biking! Ar got hurt last night at the summer series races. She seems to be doing ok -- has a sexy sling for her left arm (ok, I havent seen it -- but I'm sure its sexy) and is on tons of good drugs. And thats really all that matters, right?

Other than that not much going on. This weekend I'm headed home for D's bachelorette party on Saturday night. Then Dooz's deaconate on Sunday. So I'll be at the Cathedral for about 2 hours, then a huge family party following it. Then back to Jersey for another short work week (I'm off on Friday to head to VA for Kate and Bobs wedding!)

I just wish this stinkin rain would stop so maybe I could oh I dont know RIDE MY BIKE! Or even just get to and from work in under 2 hours... that would also rock. When will people learn how to drive in the rain?

Finally Here!

After 8.5 hours at Newark International, one flight cancelation, a few dozen thunder storms up and down the east coast, and about 15 flight delays... I finally got into Charlotte at 1am this morning. Ar caffinated herself enough to wait up to come pick me up.

I was just so happy the last flight didn't get canceled though! Andrew came this morning and we went to Alex's Brown Derby for breakfast. I'm thinking about taking a little nap before showering and going to bring Ar lunch at the shop. then I'm thinking of heading to Starbucks to get some SUN! It's pretty nice (and hot) out here today so thats good.

But really all that matters is that I AM HERE! Cause I honestly wasn't sure I was going to make it. Whew.

Bring on Horizon Foods

Off to Charlotte tonight! And I'm there til Tuesday morning - so I get a whole extra day. I have an interview with Horizon Foods, which proves to be interesting. I decided I'm not wearing my suit. Trying to stay DE-stressed

I move to Charlotte in 38 days. That's it... a week and a month. I still don't have a job. Which as much as I wish I could just accept for now and realize once I actually live in Charlotte I'll be able to find work... I can't. I've had a job sine I was in 8th grade. I worked at the St. Denis rectory answering phones, then I worked at good old Rita's Waterice in Havertown, then I worked at Student Activites at Fordham, then I worked at Student Activities AND WFUV here, then I graduated and worked as a camp counselor for a summer, then I worked at Millennium Radio New Jersey, and then I got the job here. So you can see why not having a job lined up might cause me a teeny bit of stress.

Doesn't help that I'm PMSing. So hopefully in a week or two I'll be a little less irritable and the like :)

Just everyone keep your fingers crossed that I find a decent paying job soon after I move!

*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~

Other than the looming job issue... I'm quite excited about moving. Though the bathroom is small, the rest of the apartment is really cute and nice. Ar has done a great job of setting everything up and now that there's furniture it's definitely homey. Hopefully I'll be able to ride a little more as I'll have a riding partner (even if she could kick my ass on a bike any day of the week)... and I'll be so close to downtown Charlotte which is always nice. Because I do love cities! I'm even secretly (and I mean VERY secretly) excited about having a dog. As reluctant as I was in the begining, I did always want a puppy when I was little... and Fiona has turned into quite the good dog. I'm sure I'll still get annoyed and stressed about having a dog (because if you haven't figure it out yet -- thats just what I do), but on the whole I think it will be fun!

Bring on the SUMMER

So this post is really a day early... as it's not quite Friday yet. But I'm just preparing.

I just emailed my psuedo-boss (In my mind she's my boss, but when we just did evaluations a few weeks ago she wasn't even sitting in on mine!) to see if it would be a problem if I left at 2 tomorrow. Her response was:

If I were your boss, and we now know that I actually have no authority over you what so ever, I would say, "leave at noon".

Gotta love this job sometimes. So tomorrow I hope to get to work around 7:30 or 8 and then head out by noon. I'm sure I'll spend a good 4-5 hours sitting on the parkway in traffic but I'll still be in Avalon by dinnertime.

The forcast could be better... but oh well. Looks like it's going to T-storm Fri and Sat but then clear up for Sunday and Monday. Hopefully I'll be able to get in at least two good rides and get a teeny bit of color. Who knows?!

Either way I'm just excited to get to Avalon. Haven't been down since Labor Day.

New Music

If anyone out there is looking for some good new music -- I highly recomend Gomez's new album How We Operate

I don't own it yet -- but we've been playing a bunch of it here on the FUV... and it's good stuff.

They're opening for Dave Matthews this summer in Jersey (Tweeter Center in Camden) -- but they're cooler than Dave because they're from the UK. And that automatically ups their cool points.

Happy Suzie-Q

I got in trouble this weekend because I never blog anymore... so I'm going to try to be good this week! Sometimes I just don't have anything to say. But who are we kidding? I always have something to say!

I feel like I've had a super productive day because I got up at 7 this morning and took my car in to get my 80,000 mile (yeah -- I've only had my car for 2.5 years too) tune-up. So I hung out at Madison Honda while they fixed up Suzie-Q (my car if you couldn't figure it out). Then stopped at Starbucks on my way to work and got a latte! What a great way to start the day.

(This is totally a cop out picture as I just realized I have no pictures of my car! So this is compliements of google images.)

I realized today though that I have over 83,000 miles on my car. So let's assume that all those miles were done at 70mph (which I'm sure they werent as I spend WAAAY too much time sitting in traffic)... that means I've spent 1,185 hours plus driving my car. Because I'm really the only person who drives it. And if I'm not driving - I'm in the passenger seat. That's 57 days!!! Practically 2 full months out of the past 2.5 years have been spent in my car! Wow.

Should we talk about gas mileage? Ok -- I get around 30 mpg/highway. Which is where I'm usually driving. So 83,000 miles at 30mpg is about 2,766 gallons of gas. Let just pretend that the average price of gas for the past 2.5 years was $1.80 (which again is probably a lot lower than reality)... I've spent about $4,980 on gas. WOW.

...and I thought I didnt have anything to say...

For all you meat eaters out there...

I went to this CRAZY meat place for dinner last night -- Churrascaria Plataforma. Here's how it works. It's a fixed price. You sit down and the waiter comes over and gives everyone a little coaster. One side is green, the other is red. You can start out with the salad bar. Which has all sorts of sushi, shrimp, risiotto, another fish dish, chicken in a pink sauce, and then tons of other side salad items. So you just leave your coaster on red and head up to the salad bar. As soon as you're done with that you can switch the coaster to green. This means your ready for meat. There are just men walking around with HUGE cuts of meat on skewers and they come over and ask if youd like some, then cut a piece for you right there. They had everything... literally pick a meat and they had it. Greanted I'm not a meat eater -- I just had a piece of chicken and then went to town at the salad bar... but it was just so entertaining to watch. My dad and my brother definately got their moneys worth. They were eating like there was no tomorrow. Totally crazy.

If you live near NYC... and like meat... I'd HIGHLY recomend it! And in case you were wondering... the desserts were also out of this world!

Excitement

There's been tons of excitment going on this week. A little bit of the good kind, and a little bit of the bad kind -- but all exciting nonetheless.

It all started on Sunday when Aunt Jan fell and broke her knee cap. She had to have emergecny surgery, got home from the hospital on Tuesday, and has a huge brace, can only walk like from the bathroom to the couch and back, and can't drive for at least 2 months. So everyone has really been chipping in this week helping out with her. Bringing over dinners and everything. So it's been a crazy week around the house with all sorts of guests and the likes.

It's also the member drive at work - so it's been bonkers here as well. Members volunteering, all sorts of food, and working some additional hours to help out with our begging for money.

This morning I finally got over to my old apartment to finish up everything there. All of my stuff is ofically moved out, the fridge is cleaned out, and all that goodness. I left my keys for Michelle to drop off when she moves out this weekend and everything. So that is all done!

And the most exciting thing of all is that I'm going to Canyon Ranch with my mom Saturday-Tuesday. I'm SOOO pumped. It's going to be awesome. I'm getting a facial and a massage. I'll be eating amazing, healthy, organic good. And I'll be jumping from class to class.... here's the tentative schedule I came up with:

I haven't been on my bike at all this week due to all the other insanity, but I'm hoping next week that it will be nice enough to ride once or twice after work.

Ok... I think that's all the excitment for now! I'll be sure to post all about Canyon Ranch when I get back!

YAY

I just found out that Ar's work schedule is no longer Thur-Monday... but now Tue-Sat... which means SHE IS OFF ON SUNDAY!!!!

And I couldnt be more excited! Cause we'll have a day off AT THE SAME TIME.

Thats all :)

The Best

That would be my girlfriend. Because upon my moving related stress -- she has agreed to fly to LaGuardia on Tuesday (through ATL so its a bit of a longer flight)... to help me move.

Thank you baby. You've just lowered my stress level by about 112%.

Lots to Say

I've been a slacker, and now I have TONS to tell you! I know, I know... it's all very exciting. I think I'll go with the bulleted style for easy reading.

* Last weekend I got to hang out with Laura Evans. She's been one of my best friends since I was in 8th grade. We only hang out about once every 6 months -- but she took me to see Melissa Ferrick (and as it turned out Erin McKeown) for my birthday. I was pleasantly suprised with the whole day! I got to see Laura's new house (cause she's all grown up and BOUGHT A HOUSE), then me, Laura and her girlfriend (Jess) went got cheese steaks (ok I got a chicken cheese steak) for dinner, then went to the show. Thanks Laur :) I owe you a bday pressy now!

* I'm moving my stuff to NC next week. EEK! Packing packing packing all weekend. Then actually making the drive to NC on Wednesday

* I have two interviews at stations in Charlotte Thurs-Fri. Wish me luck!

* I got my bike!!!! It's awesome. I need to take a picture of it. But it's great... I rode 20 miles on Sunday and was loving it.

* I am off from Wed-Mon. Let's hear it for Catholic Universities having off for Easter

Ok... I think that's about it.

One week and counting...

Til I'm 25!!!! How exciting!

(note: I'm just skipping over the part of the post where I appologize for not posting and being a slacker....)

So yeah! I'm going home to Havertown on Monday night. Ar is coming up from NC which will be super fun. Tuesday I'm hoping to ride my new bike if it's built, and then head into the city with Ar. She has a gift certificate to an art store in the city, so that will be fun. It'll just be nice to break up the week with some birthday fun! Granted ono my actual bday I'll be back at work... but it's all good. Everything is fun when it's your birthday and you're a princess for a day!

Ali... these pictures of my bike will have to do for now. I don't have any 'real' ones.

This is the frame:

In black amber (the second color from the bottom)

It's sooo cool. Like in some lights its green sparkles in other lights it red sparkly and then in some its just black with sparkles. The most important thing is that it SPARKELS! I love it!

Wedding Fun

The wedding this weekend was a blast! I was actually suprised at how much fun I had. So that was a real treat :)

Unfortunately my gallery is being all messed up, and won't let me log in so I can't post my pictures.

So here's a little preview....

...ok I lied. Blogger is also being a bit tempermental right now and doesnt want to post any of my pictures. Sheesh!

So maybe tomorrow!

Wedding Festivities

Tomorrow is Jackie's wedding! I wasn't too excited about it until today. Really I'm more excited to have a girls night tonight with Maureen and Ali and get ready and stuff tomorrow. It should be a good time. And I bought a new dress for the event too! Which makes everything more fun. (And it was on sale for 29.99 - marked down from 170... go me!)

So I'm hoping to get out of work today around 3ish. Go home to H-town. Pick up a gift certificate at Nais Cuisine (which looks like a ghetto restaurant but it's this amazing little place with the best food) for the bride and groom. Then drop some stuff off at my parent's house, and then head out to Manayunk for pizza and fun!

I offered to drive tomorrow as I generally dont drink, and this way I won't be drinking away tons of calories either. But I still think I'll have a good time. And hopefully take lots of pictures of everyone! So get excited...

Tuesday, March 7, 2006

Don't worry... I'm still alive. Just neglecting my little blog here.

I just ate a few mixed nuts and they were super salty and delicious! Just a random side note I thought I'd share with all of you (and by all I mean whatever 3 people read this...)

My weekend was really good. I ran tons of errands on Saturday and then had a baby shower and Oscar party on Sunday. It was good times.

Oh -- and the REALLY exciting news is that MY BIKE CAME IN TODAY!!! Ar just called to tell me how pretty it is. I cant wait to see it!

YESSSSSSS!

K -- thats it for real.

Maybe it'll happen after all...

That would be an MS 150 this year. There's all sorts of stuff going on during the City to Shore one in September -- not to mention the fact that I'll be in NC by then (yay!). But... the PA Dutch ms 150 is June 10-11. I'm hoping to convince a few of my friends to do it with me... which shouldn't be TOO hard.

I'd have to train pretty hard in April and May. But for now I'm going to keep going to at least 2 spinning classes a week (if not more) and hopefully this will actually happen. I'm not sure if my dad will be able to do it, but I'm hoping maybe my brother will be able to join in the fun as well. Who knows?!

Any and all are welcome... you know you want to do it!

Psycho Heat

Funny story...

I got home from work on Friday night and though my thermostat was set to 68 degrees, my apartment was a raging 87 degrees. I walked in and could barely breathe. It was horrid! So I promptly turned off the heat and opened all the windows and went out for the night. I was nervous because I knew I'd either be coming home to a blazing hot apartment still, or a freezing one since the heat was off and all the windows were open.

But alas -- heat was STILL pouring out of the radiators and the temp had only dropped to about 79 degrees. So I left all the windows open and went to bed. In the middle of the night I woke up sweating and got my window fan out of the closet. Finally a nice breeze was coming in and I cozied up under my blankets and went back to sleep.

All day Saturday and Sunday it was the same thing. Couldn't get the thermometer to drop below 79 degrees. But the heat was OFF. Just didn't make sense. I kept the window fan going at night and when I was cleaning on Sunday. Then last night I got in bed with the fan on, windows open and everything.

Of course I woke up around 4am FREEEEZING. Yup - -the heat finally turned off. I checked the thermometer and it was at 58 or so. I turned the heat back on, closed all the windows and went back to bed. Problem is, when I left for work at 9 (5 hours later) the tempure was still at 58. So... now I'm nervous that tonight I'm going to come home to cold.

Oh the joys of apartment renting....

Go See It

I saw Brokeback Mountain this afternoon. It was absolutely amazing. The story itself is perfect... so cliche but I did laugh and cry... I was so into it. The cinematography is beautiful. And I'm not one to usually notice things like that. But there are just these shots that are breathtaking.

It's one of those movies I think everyone should see. For so many different reasons -- not just because it's about two guys (because let's face it -- we all know I'm partial to movies with gay plots haha).

It'll be out in theaters for at least another week as it's up for tons of Oscars (and definately deserves best pictures in my book). So go see it. It's definately worth the 9 bucks.

Friday, February 24, 2006

So here's my plan for the weekend...

Tonight:
Jewlery party with Aunt Jan

Tomorrow:
9am step class
then home for a bit
Broke Back Mountain at 1.45p
Hopefully watch one of my Netflix movies at night (if they come)

Sunday:
10.30 ab class
Possibility of coffee with Brooke in the afternoon
Making meatloaf for the week at some point

Happy Friday!

TV and Laundry

I'm at Aunt Jan's tonight. It's my weekly Thursday come over to do laundry and watch all the stuff she has tivo-ed for me. It works out quite nicely. Tonight I watched the L Word -- which we all know how much I love. But I'm not feeling the Shane/Carmen failing relationship... AT ALL. And I don't like Dana being sick. Nor do I like the fact that Tina and Bette are having issues. I just feel like there's nothing to be happy about this season. Hopefully that will change soon... because I don't know how much more of this sad stuff I can take!

After that was over I switched the darks into the dryer and decided to watch Grey's Anatomy from Sunday. Also a great show. Which I never think to watch, but generally watch the tivo-ed version here. I was all into it this week. Even had me tearing up a little! I can't help it... I'm a sap on the inside. I cry at anything and everything.... and to think there was a time when I never cried!

Now I'm all done with the goodness that is Tivo and my stuff still isn't dry. Bummer I tell you. But at least I'll have clean jeans to wear tomorrow. Which is exciting, because I haven't dont laundry since last Tuesday. And that's a LONG time ago for two pairs of jeans (don't worry -- I've been wearing chords a bit too).

Off to fold....

Campbell's

I went to the foodstore (grocery store, market... whatever you call it) last night and was getting stuff to make my roasted red pepper (RRP) soup. However, I was in the soup isle and saw the new Campbell's Gold label soups and decided to try them because I was tired and didn't quite feel like MAKING soup.

So I got two -- one of the Roasted Red Pepper and Tomato and one of the Creamy Butternut Sqush. I've only tried the RRP/Tomato one, but it's great! Definately give it a whirl if you like soup. Make a perfect lunch for work.

(Why do I feel like I totally should have gotten paid by Campbell's for that post??)

Pictures from NC

Ar took a bunch of pictures this weekend...

These are from Jacob's party (don't mind me flipping her off)
The first few of these are from around Charlotte Friday night before we went to dinner

Just thought I'd share.

Home Sweet Home

...that STILL has snow on the ground. What a bummer.

Back in the Jersey/NYC area. Had a great trip in NC. Now I just wish I knew when I'd be able to get back there.

But I did pick out a bike and everything... so hopefully Ar will order it sometime this week and be able to start building it soon. I am SO SO SO excited about it!

That's all for now.

A Day Off

I'm all out of wack with my days.. I keep thinking it's Sunday because I was off on Friday. BUT... its only Saturday! So that's pretty darn exciting :)

I got here Thursday night. Me and Ar pretty much just made dinner and went to bed. I was exhausted (as was she). Yesterday we got up around 9ish and farted around. Then she went to work at noon -- I hung out there for a while, but then came home and watched one of my netflix's, Junebug. It's up for one of the Academy Awards -- its and independant film. It was ok -- but nothing amazing or earth shattering.

When Ar wass done work we went to Rock Bottom for dinner and walked around Charlotte so Ar could take pictures with her new camera :) We didnt get home til close to 11.

This morning we got up for Ar's race series. It was the last one, and though it was freakin COLD out it was still really fun. She did great -- came in 3rd. Got a trophy and everything!

Shes at work now, and I'm thinking about taking a nap. Then tonight we're off to Taryn and Jacobs for Jacobs birthday party! Should be a good time.

And the best part is that I still have two full days here!!! Hopefully itll warm up a bit though -- because places down here just arent equipped for cold.

Heading Down South

My flight leaves tonight at 7:05pm. I should be in Charlotte at approximately 9:05pm. At which point I'm hoping to convince Ar to take me to Max's for hush puppies (I'm assuming I won't be eating dinner before I get there), other than that I'm leaving the weekend up to her. I might have one or two things in mind ... but I'm just excited to get away for a long weekend and spend time with Ar!

I do hope to either ride her trainer, or if she has a bike I can ride get outside and ride a bit. I refuse to not excercize the whole time I'm down there. Because who knows what kind of unhealthy (yet delicious) food I'll be eating. Damn southerners and their fried foods!

Won't be back til Tuesday morning. So have a great weekend everyone!

Happy Valentine's Day

I know it's a consumer holiday and everything... but sometimes it's just nice to take a second and think about all the love in your life. Wether it be friends, family or a significant other... everyone's got love in their lives.

I can't be with my sexy valentine today -- but that doesn't mean it has to be a crappy day... ya know?

So Happy Valentine's Day everyone! Enjoy :)

Snow

It snowed this weekend. Not just a little bit... it DUMPED snow. From late Saturday afternoon til around 1 on Sunday it just snowed.

Granted I'm happy the snow came on a weekend... it still doesn't mean I have to like it. I spent about 3 hours shoveling in Havertown yesterday. Did my parents driveway and sidewalk, then shoveled out the 3 cars in the driveway (my parents are on vacation in Jamaica.. so I thought I'd be nice and shovel out their cars). Then my brother drove me home to Jersey (the roads weren't too bad... but it certainly wasn't the best driving conditions) and I spent another hour or so shoveling out MY car. It was under so much snow that I wasn't even sure it was mine.

I'm in so much pain today its pitiful. I didn't do the best job of 'lifting from the knees' as I should have. I tired... really I did. But there was just so much snow!

I think in Jersey we ended up getting anywhere from 18-24 inches. Craziness I tell you! I had to wear snow pants to walk to my car today because the apartment complex hand't shovled any of the walkways yet.

But the roads are fine now. The shoveling is done. And next year this time I'll be in the South.

... and that, my friends, makes me happier than you could imagine. Any reservations I may have had about moving were answered yesterday. I have no intentions of dealing with another north-east winter. No thanks!

How much longer til spring??

Go Kelly!

...Clarkson that is. Her and her two grammys. I'm so proud. Because I do heart Kelly Clarkson. Her album is just good... like everyone song is a roll down the windows and sing really loud kind of song.

She won for best Pop Vocal album (beating out Sheryl, Paul McCartney and Gwen) as well as Best Female Pop Vocal Artist.

And that's all I have to say about the Grammys.

In other news, I got my hair did this morning and I LOVE it. It just looks so nice and freshly cut and highlighted and everything. I really needed it. So yay for that!

And I'm off to see the Indigo Girls tonight. Could today get any better?

Let's Hear it for TurboTax

I did my taxes last night! I'm so proud of myself. Well I won't lie - my mom helped me with my state taxes beacuse I have Jersey and New York... but I did my federal taxes. It only took like an hour and a half. haha. But my refund should be in my account in 7-10 days.

What does that mean??? Well, a few things.

1) I'm treating myself to a good hair cut and partial highlights (10am on Saturday) at the Aura Salon and Spa. (Don't worry I have a coupon for free cut with partial highlights)

2) I'm buying a BIKE FRAME!! Ar has all the parts needed to build a bike, so I just need to buy a frame. Hopefully when I go down there over President's Day weekend Ar will help me pick one out and order it. Then she'll build it and bring it up to H-town when she comes up for my birthday.

3) Christmas bills PAID. I don't have much of a balance on my card, but the small one that I do have will be paid off.

4) ING Direct is getting the rest. And that makes me happy.

L Word and Stuff...

Happy Friday...

I'm so glad it's Friday. I'm ready for a few days off. Even though I only worked 4 days this week. It just seems like it's been a long one.

So I'm hoping to get out of here soon, then head off to H-town.

I did watch The L Word last night. I do so love that show. Shane and Carmen make me so happy. And if for any reason you missed it and wanted a good recap -- go here. The girl who writes them is really funny, and she covers all the important stuff. Next week's looks really good. Even if Shane and Carmen do fight... which I don't know that I'll be able to handle -- but hopefully it will be resolved quickly.

That's all for now.

Been a Long Time...

As a someone pointed out -- I've been quite the post slacker lately. Not really sure why. Part is because I feel like there's really nothing all that exciting in my life to discuss, and part is because I've actually been a little bit busy at work! How bout that?

I did go to Charlotte this weekend. I was in cahoots with one of Ar's friends in NC and she picked me up at the airport and I was able to show up at Ar's doorstep and suprise her. It was GREAT! We had a lovely weekend. The more I get down there, the more I start to like it. It's just a totally different world than Jersey/NYC. People are nice. It's got the spring-esque feel year round. And the city is so close and small and clean. Ar's apartment is great. Bathroom leaves a bit to be desired -- but if thats the biggest problem with it, then I really have no complaints. I really think I'm going to like it down there!

I'm also decided when I'm going to move down there. I'm thinking if all of D's pre-wedding events (bachelorette, shower, etc) are before July then I'll move down in the begining of July. Then i'll just have to come up for her wedding. Which is no big deal at all. So I'm secretly hoping that I'll be done most of my wedding stuff for the summer by the end of June... then I'll be free to head to NC in early July. I'm getting really excited about it :)

Tonight I'm off to Aunt Jans to watch the L Word. My cousin set it up so that the whole season will be Tivo-ed. And then packing so I can head to H-town tomorrow.

Hopefully I'll start posting more often!

Pretty Dress

We all know I haven't posted in a while. But oh well, life has been a little crazy lately. (YAY! We're playing Ani on FUV right now! I am not a Pretty Girl... oh but Ani you ARE a pretty girl. I heart this song. GO FUV!) I digress -- so I haven't posted. But I am now, so thats something.

Anyway -- Denisey is getting married. Her and Pat got engaged (well no ring yet -- but its official anyway) and are gettin married in July! of this year! How fun?! So July 22 I'll be at D's wedding. I'm so happy for them. Pats great and him and D are perfect for eachother.

Anyway -- I got my dress for her wedding yesterday (yes -- I'm a bridesmaid). Look how pretty it is! The color is pool (all the way on the right). It looks wierd on the computer, but its a georgous color and looks really good on me! haha. So I got the dress and dont need alterations or anything! What a treat. I'm so excited about it. Now I need to get a sexy pair of silver heels. That's the fun part!

In not as exciting news I've also decided to push back my move to NC. It was a really hard decision to make. But it just makes too much sense. I am in 2 weddings this summer so I'd have to keep flying up for showers, bach parties and the actual weddings. I also have a family vacation in the end of June -- and I just wouldn't be able to get that much time off at a new job. So I'll be moving to NC after D's wedding in the end of July. I'm not happy about being away from Ar for another 3 months -- but it hass lessened my stress. If my Aunt is ok with it I'll be living at her house after my lease is up in May. Save some money for the U-Haul to NC (which will be close to 1000 bucks if not more) and all of that. Then in August-- watch out because this girl is moving to the south! And I'm really excited about it :)

Ok -- I think thats enough news for one post.

Keeping Myself Busy

I've been trying to stay busy lately. A certainly girlfriend of mine has moved to North Carolina, and so I have a lot of free weekends on my hands. This first week and a half have been ok. I've kept myself busy. Gotten back to weight watchers (meetings and everything), been going to the gym (I even started a weight watchers blog... but only select people are allowed to know the url for that teehee).

I've also been cooking/baking a lot. I really enjoy it. Granted I screw somethings up. But so far the good stuff I've made has been:
Banana Oat Muffins
Turkey Meat Loaf (my fave)
Chicken Stir Fry over rice
Pudding (I know that doesn't really count)
Turkey Chili
Scalloped potatos (from scratch)

It works because cooking takes some time. And I like it. And then I have leftovers for the week!

I was home in H-town this weekend meeting up with old college roommates. We had a lot of fun. This weekend I'll be in H-town again for our Polly exchage. I cant wait! I also have Jackie's shower. And 2-hours of Jack Bauer on Sunday followed by the L Word. I really do love the L Word and I'm so glad it's back. I went to Aunt Jans last Sudnay to watch it (because I clearly don't have showtime, since I barely get network channels). This week I invited myself to stay in Manayunk after the 24 premiere to watch the L Word. I think Fish and Kell are ok with it :)

Anyway... that's all for now. Oh! I did update picutres too. Some from me and Ar's trip to NC and some from this weekend.

ENJOY!

Slacking

I've been such a blog slacker! And I still don't have much time to write right now, either!

But North Carolina was great. Picutres should be posted within the next few days. It was great to spend a whole week with Ar. Especially since I'm not going to see her for 7 weeks :( But let's not talk about that right now.

I'm back to work and the regular old routine. But I've actually been super busy at work this week, so I'm going to get back to that so I can get out of here.

But just wanted to check in. I'll hopefully get back into being more routine with this too!

Happy 2006!
